CHAPTER 9 - Atack on the Castle

DO NOT START READING THE BOOK HERE! THE FIRST CHAPTER IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE!!!
James went back to the alien den to hear the rest of the story.
Drunda shared his story to James, “this part of the story is about a war, a war between the Indians and the Irains. Now your probably thinking that would be really easy for the aliens to win, but this war was different. It also gives you some history on what really happened in early America, before the English came…

* * *

A man from Spain in 1492 was sitting at his hard, wooden chair at his small, stone house looking up at his beautiful, fine sword that he valued. His name was Gordon Parker. He had won it on a very lucky hand of poker. This sword changed his life forever and the whole Universe within it.
As he looked at the sword he had only one thought on his mind: money. He took fencing lessons since he was just a baby from his father.
Gordon’s father passed away when he was 15 because his neck got cut off after he broke a very stricken law by the government. He still practiced after his father died and grew very strong. He practiced every single day in revenge because, he, was going to kill the King of Spain with a sword stabbing into the king’s neck. If he did this he must take all the kings money and keep it for himself.
Gordon took the sword of his shelf and smoothed his fingers across the blade. It felt good in his hands; perfect balance, weight, strength, and incredibly sharp.
He shall attack at night when they are tired, kill the guards, and end the kings life at once.
Gordon sleep long during the day so he wouldn’t be tired during the night. As he got up at two o’ clock in the morning he looked out his window. All was as silent as a mouse. He sneaked outside of his house with the sword in his belt. It was completely dark because no lights shown.
Gordon could see the out linings of the giant castle already as he moved closer. A fence peered around the outside. He started to climb slow and silent. One leg crossed to the other side, then the next. He took one step down and then slips. His legs hit the ground but the whole fence vibrated with noise.
“Who’s there?” shouted a voice from behind.
A guard was slowly approaching Gordon. He had been seen.
“What are you doing?” he said again and called two more guards forward.
“Um, I was, uh, giving some items to the king!” Gordon lied.
“But you have no items. What could you be giving to the king without any items?”
But Gordon didn’t have any answer to this so he replied by taking out his sword. He sliced the closest person to him in the arm he the guard let out a scream. The other two had taken out their swords too. Now this fight was in for a challenge!
Guard #1 raised his sword in the air trying to chop him in half but Gordon was too fast. He shielded himself with his own sword above his head.
Guard #2 swiped for his feet but Gordon jumped over the blade. Gordon took a step right, dodging Guard #1’s blade by a hair as it swooshed in front of his nose.
Guard #1, a more bulky man, attacked again with all his might at Gordon’s waist and he blocked it with his sword. The impact was so hard it knocked him to the ground and he landed on his back. Guard #2’s legs were in view so Gordon swiped his sword as quickly as he could (which is quite fast) at his legs followed by other loud scream as he fell to the ground.
Guard #2 came down on top of him with his sword aiming to cut off his face but Gordon put up his sword and shielded his face. The two men were about equal strength. They had a war to see whom’s strength would fail them first and whoever did, would die. Gordon had a cheat: the nifty In-case-of-an-emergency belt knife. Gordon had to let go of the sword with one hand to reach for the knife which could make him stumble and the sword would go through his face or he could take the long way and could possibly win the battle. So it was either risky but if went right would kill Guard #2 instantly or the safe but little chances. But Gordon was into risk, which had gotten him the sword in the beginning. So he reached for the knife. The sword got an inch away from his face before had stabbed the knife right into his side. Guard #2’s eyes widened in horror as he became limp.
Gordon rolled him over to the side, took his sword, and threw it at the other guard who was starting to get back up. He pulled the knife out of the guard’s side and wiped the blood on the grass.
Gordon was so tired he decided to rest on the ground for a few minutes before getting back up and head for the castle doors.
The castle door was completely locked so that no one could enter. Gordon was very smart. He knew how to do things that were complicated and turn them into easy tasks.
Gordon looked for some sort of rust or crack in the door. This resembled a week spot that he could brake through. It will be loud but he didn’t need stealth any more. Now was the time for pure action.
At last he found it: a long crack ran down the wall. Over half of the sections wood was torn off – possibly by an attack of some sort that had hit the door long ago. On the top and bottom of the crack was a large line of rust that could be easily bashed through if forced.
Gordon stepped back for a running start, ran forward, and jumped up in the air with one kicking foot out in front of him. His foot hit the wall with tremendous force and bashed through. About six guards jumped in surprise as they all turned to face him.
The castle had nice purple rugs lying on the ground. There were knights armor standing straight like someone was in them but they were just decoration. The room was wide and almost a perfect square. At the end of the room was a staircase leading upstairs. High above to the left was an opening wall of a room with a railing on its edge.
There were too many guards. Gordon had to take a run for it up the stairs. The guards charged, and Gordon ran. One guard was about to charge into him. Gordon put his sword up to block his body as they clanked swords into each other.
Gordon still ran for his life toward the stairs as a stream of guards chased after him. The run up the stairs was tiring. He had to jump in order to dodge a sword from behind him.
At the top of the stairs was a hallway with two doors. Just as he passed one door a guard jumped out of it. Luckily for him, the guard ran into the other guards and made them tumble around into each other. This gave Gordon an extra seven feet in front of the others.
At the end of the hallway there was a door. Gordon made a mad dash for it and closed it as fast as he could. A latch was on the wall near him. As he quickly looked at the construction he figured out it was a lock. He pulled down on the lever and a giant metal lock went over it just in time before all the guards crashed into the door.
Gordon turned around to see a curved staircase and two doors. The two doors were both locked – that left one option: the stairs.
By now Gordon couldn’t run. He was very tired. He sat back down again then got up.
Gordon twisted around the stairs panting wildly. At the top of the staircase there was a bedroom. A very expensive bedroom. It had a king sized bed, large paintings on the wall of people he didn’t recognize. To the left was an opening in the wall. Could it be? This was the same room he saw from down below in the entrance! Gordon looked over the railing and saw all the guards back in their places.
He didn’t notice before but there was a door at the end of the room. It required some sort of key that was probably held by the king. Gordon leaned his side against the door and looked forward at the wall to his side to think. He would have to kill him first and then take the key from him. But where could he be?
    THUNK.
An ax had been thrown strait in front of his face. He had to focus his eyes to see it clearly.
I guess that answered his question. Gordon turned around to see the king standing right at the doorway, sword drawn.
“Do you really think your that great? You’re a fool - trying to get into my castle? No one can get past all my guards” The king mocked him.
    “I already have!”
“That’s what you think. You’ve only been in part of the castle. I have thousands of guards. And may I ask? What are you doing in my castle? Is there something you want? What ever it is, you’re not going to get it. You shall die first!”
“YOU KILLED MY FATHER! HE DID NOT DISERVE IT! AND NOW YOU SHALL DIE WITH HIM!”
“Well, I guess we’ll have to see!”
The king jumped forward and attacked Gordon. Gordon blocks the blow with his own sword and he attacked again and it was blocked too.
Now they were both attacking each other: up, down, left, and right. Attack by attack they fought.
Gordon swung for the king’s legs but he jumped over the sword. The king made a strait aim to stab Gordon’s chest. Gordon put his sword out to the base of the sword before the blade got to him. He slid his sword up the other sword toward its tip. At the same time circling his sword around and around. Then, Gordon made a yank from his sword. The friction forced the kings sword out of his hands and it flew toward the wall with the room’s entrance door. The king made a mad dash for his sword. He grabbed the sword and stood up but Gordon threw his nifty In-case-of-an-emergency belt knife at the king. It spun in the air and landed right at his hart, blood oozing out.
The king looked known at the knife and said his last words, “you shall regret this! Y-y-you…” the king chuckled with hate before his head dropped dead.
Gordon put down his sword and started searching the king’s pockets. When he got to one pocket and put it inside out, something flew out: the key. Gordon looked at it like he had found an expensive diamond. He looked back at the locked door behind him and walked toward it. The key fit perfectly in the hole. He turned it and heard something unlatch. He pulled on the door and it opened.
Behind the door were five large railroad carts and they were all filled with gold – lots of gold. Gordon fell to his knees and almost cried with joy. He rubbed his hands on the gold and hugged it. “HAHA! THIS IS ALL MINE!” Gordon rejoiced. But how was he supposed to get it out of the castle to his house?
Gordon looked around the dim room. The walls hadn’t been painted. Gordon noticed a strait crack in the wall. The crack shaped a complete square, big enough that the crates of gold could fit threw in between it easily. Near the square was some fastened rope that looped around a wheel hinged to the ground. The two ends of the rope leaded out side.
Gordon grabbed the rope and pulled down on it. The square started to lift on the bottom and was hinged on the top. It was a door… and it leaded outside.
When Gordon opened the door all the way up to where it hit the wall outside of them, some thing clinked and the gold carts started to move on the tracks heading outside. The first one came to the edge and started to slant downwards because the track goes down like a roller coaster.
Gordon had to hurry out of the room. He went back to where he killed the king and saw a rope hanging down from the sealing from a hook on the other side of the railing.
Gordon looked through the king’s cloths again and found a coin. This could be used as a distraction. Gordon took the coin and chucked it at the stairs. He saw the guards moving toward the coin in curiosity.
Gordon grabbed on to the rope and took it off the hook. He looked for the hinge that it was hung up upon. It was right above the big crack he made earlier in the entrance door.
Gordon grabbed the rope with all his grip and strength and jumped off the railing. He started to fall until the rope tightened up with his weight. All the guards looked in his direction as one yelled, “Get him!” and they all charged.
The rope swung, as everything seemed to be in slow motion like he was going to die. Gordon closed his eyes. The rope started to swing forwards then it made a dramatic tug. Gordon couldn’t hold on any more, he slipped off and fell so he had to open his eyes. Gordon landed on the ground and rolled to break the fall.

He looked at the ground and to his sudden relief, saw grass. He had made it threw the hole. He wanted to dance but then he saw the crowd of soldiers trying to get threw the hole. There was a traffic jam, which slowed down the presses.
He started to run and only Gordon knew where. He saw the crates of gold still moving along the train track.
He looked back and he knew the king was right; there were more soldiers than he thought. Like, thousands of them, all chasing toward him.
None of the soldiers knew their king had died. It would have been better if they did because they were all slaved and had to work for the king or their life would be finished. If they knew he had died then they wouldn’t care if Gordon ran off. Unless they wanted all the gold for themselves.
One of the guards shouted, “He’s going to jump over the cliff!” There had been a cliff in front of him, and the guard was half right, and only Gordon knew why.
Gordon was at the end of the cliff and he jumped.
The guards looked down and saw lots of strong string and on top of it lay a platform. The guards looked lower and there they saw Gordon. He hadn’t fallen strait to the bottom. He was holding on to a hang glider, floating across the sky. The guards were amazed.
“Wow, what a crazy invention!” said one guard.
“That man is ingenious!” said another.
Gordon saw his hoarse at the bottom of the cliff. It was brown and white and very powerful. Gordon wanted to land beside it.
He was hanging on by just his hands. Two strings dangled down next to his feet that where connected to foot holders. These where used to lift the front end of the wing and slow it down. If he didn’t get his feet in the holder he would fall to fast and crash.
Gordon tried to get his feet in but couldn’t. Would he not be able to do this and fail his task? He had to try harder. He tried and tried but couldn’t quite get his feet in. His muscles were getting tired and couldn’t hold on much longer.
He had to relax, take deep breathes, and concentrate. He slowly moved his foot forward and it slipped in. Now the next one would be easier, and it was. He quickly slipped his foot in.
Gordon pressed down on his feet and the wings tilted like planned. He felt himself slowdown. The muscles in his arms relaxed as he took in a deep breath of fresh air.
Gordon landed softly on the dirt ground and climbed on his hoarse and rode back up the cliff. He had finally escaped the guards, killed the king, and got his fathers revenge.

CHAPTER 8: A STORY

DO NOT START HERE! THE FIRST CHAPTER IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE!!

James laid, relaxed on his sofa after the long day of school. He picked at his nails with his teeth; bored. I wish there was something to do, someone to talk to. James thought, it’s Monday and chess club is on Wednesday. That’s about the only thing that Hermit and I know what to do. Boozer’s gone. Aha! James sat up on his couch. That gives me an idea! I should go see Drunda in the sand dunes!

James ran to his closet, put on some socks and shoes, and ran outside. He quickly opened the gate emerged in the ginormous steel wall. As like last time, a shield blocking all the wind and sand surrounded him. This made easy for James to move and see the small light that always directed his path to Drunda’s den.
The trap door leading inside was always open for James. The light, as usual, turned off as soon as James stepped a foot inside the den. He gripped the ladder tight with his hands and watched his feet carefully so they wouldn’t trip.
He jumped to the floor as he reached close to the bottom of the ladder. His eyes wondered the room to see if anything changed. The gold was still there; the little arched opening in the corner of the room was in place, but no Drunda. James searched the room for him.
“Drunda! Drunda, where you at?” James entered the little arched opening, “Drunda! Are you here? He started running for the pile of junk that Drunda pulled in with his air-moving power. James stopped as fast as he could when he got to it; making him slide across the floor. James ended up standing right in front of Drunda making James jump and he had to re-fix his glasses resting on his nose so he could see strait. “Oh! There you are! What took you so long!”
    “You woke me.” Drunda answered.
    “What do you mean?”
    “I was sleeping”
“Oh. Well, I came to see you.”
James and Drunda walked back from the hallway leading back to the entrance. James looked back at Drunda and said, “what is it like having to stay in here for so long? And how long have you been here?”
“I have been here for about 5,000 earth years.”
James looked at Drunda in awe. “Your that old! How are you not dead yet. That’s crazy!”
Well, Irains live a lot longer than Humans. The time we live depends on how strong we are. Some of us live to be eternal, or at least everyone used to be…” Drunda’s face began to sadden.
    “What? What’s wrong?” said James.
“Oh, nothing. Just remembering what happened long, long ago.”
“What happened Drunda, I want to know!”
“It’s a long story, maybe some other time”
They both entered the small, arched opening. Drunda had to duck way down low to make it threw it. Then, James saw all the gold. “Tell me something about the gold, about your life, what really happened. Tell me every thing, I want to learn now!”
Drunda jumped back from James ‘cus of his anger. “Gosh, your inpatient!”
James gave Drunda a stern look.
“Ok, are you shirr you want to know. This could take all day,” Drunda said.
    “Yes, I’m shirr.”
“Fine. I’ll tell you the story, but you have to listen. It’s very important.” Drunda sat back to relax and looked off into the distance to remember the long gone past, “Ah hem, well, it all started in a far away place in space…

*           *           *

Three men, Drogzvog, Shanteway, and Drunda all sat in a mighty ship flying light speed into space. Drogzvog was a mighty beast. He was the strongest in the Universe but was evil inside. Shanteway was much different than Drunda. His voice was high, he was very stupid, and was afraid of getting heart. No one liked this little miniature rat ‘cus he was very annoying. Now, Drunda was wise. He had a wife back at Ira who was pregnant. Drunda missed her dearly. He knew he couldn’t see the baby when it arrived.
The Irains called themselves by there last name instead of their first.
Your probably wondering why three random guys are hanging out in a space ship way out in space They’re on a journey. Their task was to find a special diamond in space. They called it a diamond race. When someone touches this diamond the get a special power. It turns everyone stupid. It might sound dumb, but it’s quite powerful. Right now, every single thing with a brain can use 100% of their brain (right now you are only using 15% of it). The farther you are from the diamond when someone touches it, the dumber you are and the less amount of your brain you can use.
Drogzvog looked of at the distant space. Drunda knew that evil was in Drogzvog’s eyes. Drogzvog started to talk, “I can feel it in my bones, we are getting closer to the diamond. Pretty soon the power will be ours.”
Many Earth days passed as they waited. They neither knew when or where they would find the diamond.
A low rumble came from the outside of the space ship waking everyone up. The rumble got louder and louder as seconds passed. Then, the ship got out of course, tumbled around in space. The ship still took the impact and didn’t brake.
“We are being attacked!” screamed Shanteway as he ran around in circles.
“Prepare yourselves and fight back!” yelled Drunda.
Everyone quickly jumped out of the ship from its door and flew out using there minds to control them self. Only one of them has wings, Shanteway. They are small, only long enough to rap around its fat and short body. These wings weren’t meant for flying but for slowly falling to rescue him if he fell from too high, but he didn’t need his wings ‘cus he was in zero gravity.

They all looked around the space ship but no one was there. It wasn’t even a crater. Suddenly, something caught Shanteway’s eyes. A large object floated it the distance. It was almost invisible because it was black but had just enough light from the ship to see it. Finally Shanteway realized, it was the diamond.
Shanteway started to fly over to the diamond without saying a word; he wanted to be the first one to touch it for self-pride. The diamond kept moving away in a constant path across space. Shanteway was just quick enough reach it but slowly progressed closer as it got further away. Now Shanteway was about half way there when Drogzvog and Drunda saw him. They both chased after him.
“No! I want to be the first to touch it!” yelled Drogzvog.
Shanteway was close enough to reach it. He put out his hand and touched.
Drogzvog and Drunda shaded their eyes like the diamond was going to shine brightly, enough to blind them.
Shanteway still opened his eyes wide in amazement with the diamond in front of him.
“What?” Shanteway asked himself looking at his hands, “Nothing happened!”
Finally, Drogzvog and Drunda made it to the diamond with him. “Nothing was supposed to happen to us, only to everyone else.” Drogzvog reminded him.
“Our mission is over.” Drunda said, “We can all use 100% of our brain and we can all become a god if we kill everyone else. We can work as a team effort to kill everyone. This will make it easy for us. C’mon, let’s go back to the ship.”
They all did and had a party with lots of food. They sat at a round table so they would face each other.
Drogzvog served the food on the table and they ate. Later on Drogzvog said he had to go to the bathroom and he did. When he came back, Shanteway’s and Drunda heads were blown off. He had poisoned their food with Irainite before serving it. Drogzvog laughed an evil laugh.
They wont become a god! I will kill everyone myself and only I will be the god. Hahahaha!”
Drogzvog raced back to Ira in his enormously fast spaceship. He found Ira on his planet-tracking device. On his way, he saw that Mars and earths moon had been diminished because they were too far away from the diamond when Shanteway touched the diamond. Earth was right on the edge of despair but was still barely close enough to survive.
Drogzvog landed on Ira. The doors opened and he walked out. To Drogzvog, all the people looked as stupid as rats. All there memory was lost except for the things that only took 40% of their brain. That’s all the Irains could use. Some looked helpless yelling: What was I just doing? Where am I?
They still knew all about the diamond race, that Drogzvog was searching for it. They were like hated but famous celebrities so they asked, “Where is Drunda and Shanteway? Um… oh no… you found the diamond and killed the others? Gulp.” The person said.
“Yes, and you’ll be the next on the menu!” Drogzvog grabbed him by the neck and threw him on the nearest wall, cracking his neck open.
“Who wants to die next!” Drogzvog threw a deadly chunk of Irainite at a crowd and it blew them up in a second.
Suddenly, someone else’s Irainite hit Drogzvog. It wasn’t enough force to knock him to the ground so he turned around so see who it was. Obviously, it was the only person who was still standing behind him and shivering in fear. Drogzvog got ready to throw the next piece of Irainite when he got hit again. This time it was a whole mob of people. Soon, people tied cuffs around his hands strong enough that he couldn’t break free. A shield went around his whole body. One person had a device that controlled the shield and Drogzvog in it, to move. Drogzvog knew exactly where they were going, the dungeon. This dungeon had high walls, lava shot out from the sides; the top had a shield so he couldn’t fly out. Then he knew, he was stuck there forever…

*           *           *

“Wow, so that’s what happened.” James said, “I don’t get some things though. Why did they want Drogzvog to die?”
“If Drogzvog dies, then someone else can get the chance to become god. That’s the whole purpose in life.”
“And you kept saying Drunda. But them you said he dies. Your not dead.”
“Drunda is my dad. He killed my dad!”
“Oh, I’m sorry… What was his first name?”
    “Zefiniger.”
James looked at his watch. “I have to get back home. I can hear the rest of the story later”
    Ok.

CHAPTER 7: FUNERAL

THE FIRST CHAPTER IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE! DO NOT START HERE! THIS IS THE SEVENTH CHAPTER

James took out the phone and dialed 911. A lady picked up the phone and said, "911, what’s your emergency?"
"Yes ma'am, my friend just got swept into the sand dunes! I think he's dead!" James lied and was panting to make the call not look fake.
    "When did this happen."
"Just now. We were walking deep into the dunes. I couldn't see him 'cuss the dust was in my eyes. I heard him scream so I looked down and wiped my eyes and his whole body was in the sand except for his head. I tried to help him out but he just fell right in and now he's dead!"
    "What is your address?”
    "It's 197 West St."
"We will be on our way"
They hung up and James waited at his front window for the ambulance to come. Now that the ambulance is coming, James won't have to bother with telling his parents that their son has died.
The sky began to cloud up and it started to rain. The water dripped sadly on the window. It was like even god was crying because Kaden died. James watched the bigger rain droplet eat the smaller rain droplet as it slit down the window. Finally the ambulance came. Its lights were blurry from the rain droplets but you could still hear the siren ring in your ears. Two men and one girl doctor rushed out of the ambulance for James door. James hopped off the couch next to the window that he was sitting on and ran to open the door. The doctors knocked on the door before James could get to it. When he reached the door he opened it for the doctors. James simply knew what to do and rushed outside to get in the ambulance so they could take him to Kaden house. The doctors followed James and hopped in with him.
"So kid, where’s your friend live?” said one of the doctors.
"Take a right out of my street.” James said and the driver copied the turns. Go five blocks down to the right. His house is the green one two houses down to the left.
The doctors made it to Kadens' house and silently stopped in the road next to Boozer's front yard. Again, they all rushed out of the ambulance for their door. One of the male Doctors rung the door bell and waited for the door to open. A couple seconds later Kadens' mom worriedly opened the door.
"Ma'am, I'm sorry, but your son had just died.

James, Kadens' friends, and his relatives all gathered around Kadens' gravestone. Everyone whore black. People where crying. A priest said some verses from the Bible and talked about Kaden to calm down the crowd.
James was the only one not crying. Just if I could tell every one to shut up with their annoying whining and tell them that you'd all be dead too if he didn't die. James thought But if I said that, that would also kill everyone 'cuss, like Drunda said, it would go to the military that there's aliens.
"Is there anyone who wants to make a speech or say some final words?” the priest finally said.
Kadens' Mom stepped forward, still throbbing, and said, "Kaden lived a short life. I never dreamed of it ending so soon but life is life and you can not change the way it is."
"Is that all?” asked the priest. No one stepped forward.
The funeral ended with people placing flowers on the gravestone and saying prayers. Everyone left in his or her cars and James mom took him home. When they made it home James lay gently in his bead and went to sleep for tomorrow will be a school day.
As usual, James packed his supplies and road the bus to school. Waiting at the schools front door was Hermit. They walked side by side to their first period class.
"So, did you hear that Kaden died?” asked Hermit.
"Ya, I know." James replied with a smirk on his face.
They both entered Mr. Fragens class and sat in their assigned seats. James looked at the sad glare of Kadens' empty seat.
"I know you all know that Kaden had just died in the sand dunes,” said Mr. Fragens. Then, a girl started to cry at the remembrance of his death and ran to the back of the room in tears. "But, were not going to be thinking about that 'cause we...” Mr. Fragens paused and tried to make it sound like the thing he is about to say is exciting. "...Are going to...” He paused again. "...A MUSEUM!” Mr. Fragens said while raising his hands in the air, looked strait up like there was something in the sky, and shouting heroically to try and get us excited.
Everyone just stood their looking at him like he was an idiot that totally just embarrassed himself. Mr. Fragens heard the silence in the room and knew everyone thought he was stupid so he put his head and arms down with a complete notice of failure. Then, he coughed off the embarrassment and said, "Anyway, you'll need to pack up your supplies and go on the bus."
The whole class agreed and packed up their school supplies.
"This will be a fun journey to see history up close." James stated.
"Yes, I wonder what kind of museum though. That would be cool if it was one of those museums with the dinosaurs and all that stuff.” Hermit said.
"That would be cool, but the school doesn't have that much money."
The class left the room, walked through the long school hallways, and went outside to the bus. The bus has steep stairs where you have to hold on to the railing so you don't slip. Hermit and James raced for the back of the bus to get the last seat where it's really bumpy over curves. They both got to the seat in an almost exact tie which caused Hermit to land in James lap.
"Get off of me!” James yelled and pushed Hermit to the side, knocking him off the whole seat.
"Hey! No fare! You cheated!” Hermit held back.
    "I got here first!"
    "No, I did!"
    "I was the one underneath!"
    "Oh, whatever. You won."
"Ha.” James said in an in-your-face attitude.
The bus started to emerge away from the school. James, sitting on the window seat, looked outside at the quickly accelerating movement of the concrete ground, which made James "stare off into space".
The museum was just less than an "hour away" and when they got there everyone ran off the bus and waited at the front for further instructions.
Mr. Fragens rose up his voice and said, "Students, this is The Museum of Egyptian History, today our tutor will be miss Latrisha Rarvara. Be very kind and don't be afraid of asking questions. You may proceed and enjoy the museum."
The whole class followed Latrisha into the building. They entered a long hallway. The walls where painted gold. The top of the walls had wallpaper with green swirls on it. There were pictures hung up nicely with morals from the Egyptian time. Some of them had pictures of the gods holding staffs or cross-shaped keys with circles on them. They had animal heads but human bodies. Other pictures would have babies being thrown into water with alligators sticking their head out to eat them. These pictures where cruel. Other pictures showed what they thought heaven looked like.
After they walked across the hall, they entered another room. This room was vast. Unlike the last room, this one had pharaoh’s caskets. They where shaped in a human form.
One wall had a big painting of a pyramid and what it looked like inside. Pyramids are like big graves for the pharaoh. It was like a big maze so you can’t find the place where they hid the pharaoh.
The last room they went into was a library. It wasn’t too big and it only had about ten shelves.
Latrisha stopped and spoke to the class “These are all the books we have that where written from the Egyptians. They are not the exact ones found but they were copied and translated to English. If you want, you can look at one book.”
All the kids quickly walked to the shelves to find a book. James scanned the shelf for the smallest book he could find for he wanted to finish it before they had to go. He found one that was excruciatingly only two pages. The title was very cool sounding. It was called, death that fell from the sky. James opened the book and read,

The sky was blue in the day; it was very peaceful for me. I am a scribe for Egypt. Priests and I are the only people who know how to read and write. I keep records in Egypt. Suddenly, the sky rippled like when you through a pebble in the water. Instead of out coming a rock, out came a black dot. It soared straight for our flat earth. It started to get bigger and bigger as it came for us. I could start to make out wings.
“Everyone! Pray for your life! The gods have gone mad!” said a man.
They object hit earth as the earth trembled. This creature looked odd. This isn’t what we expected a god to look like!
The creature turned around and looked at our temple in which the pharaoh lived in. It jumped up, opened its wing and flew right toward it at amazing speed. Now the creature was out of view and I couldn’t see what it was doing
Moments later of waiting to see what was happening, the sky rippled again except, this time the object was
The book just stopped right there. Not a single word was written after that. James took the book over to Latrisha and showed it to her. “Latrisha, why does this book just stop right here?” James asked pointing it out.
Latrisha read the last paragraph and when she finished, her face had an expression that James knew meant she thought it was odd. “That is strange” Latrisha said with a voice of mystery.
“Ok kids it’s time to go!” Mr. Fragens yelled.
James took the book back from Latrisha and put it on the shelf in the correct location. The whole class loaded back up on the bus and sat down. Again, Hermit sat with James. The wheels on the bus started rolling and the bus moved with it. They started to head back to school.
When they arrived, the class stood up and walked out of the bus’s exit in the front while forming a line.
By now, it was time for lunch. Everyone went to the cafeteria and went in the lunch line. James wasn’t very hungry so he went in the ‘snack zone’ for a snack. He ordered a big cherry, vitamin water and went outside for recess.
James sat down on a school bench to drink his vitamin water. He lifted the bottle up to his mouth and drank a big gulp. Then, the water bottle slammed into his face and the water splat all over his face and shirt. Someone must have hit the back of the bottle while he was drinking. While they were doing this they took the bottle. James looked to see who caused it. There they where with his bottle in hand. They had already screwed the cap on.
“C’mon James! Come get your water bottle!” a kid yelled, waving the water bottle in his hand.
James face became furious. He screamed like a kid with anger issues “GIVE ME MY VITAMIN WATER!!” James automatically charged at the kids at full speed. He tried to tackle the kid with the water bottle but he was too fast. The kid threw the water battle over James head and made it land right in another kid’s hands. James jolted forward for the next but by the time he was within arms reach from the next person, the kid threw it back to the same kid that had it last. They kept on throwing it back and forth like a wild game of ‘monkey in the middle’. Soon, more kids came in to help the first kids with torturing James.
A whistle blew from behind them. Everyone turned around to look. It was one of the teachers that had to watch the kids during “lunch brake”.
“What is all this ruckus?” the teacher asked all the kids.
James stepped forward and said, “No one will give me my water bottle back!”
“Is that so?” said the teacher. “Then who has James water bottle?”
All the kids stepped aside laving a pathway for the teacher to see the last kid with the bottle. She went up the kid and tore it out of his hand. Then, she gave the bottle to James. “There, now go some where else and drink your water. James did so and later on school ended.

CHAPTER SIX - blood

WARNING! CHAPTER 1 IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE. DO NOT START HERE!!!!

James made a river of tears. Drunda's massive hand patted James on the back to calm him down. "It's OK.", Drunda said with a happy face to calm him down. "I just saved the Universe."
"What do you mean?", James said while trying to relax and stop crying.
"Do you really want to learn how I just saved the Universe?"
    "Most definitely."
"Well then, I guess this will be a good time to tell you so you don't have to suffer from Boozers death haunting you for the rest of your life. You probably didn't know that the military has created a very secret invisible missile. I knew that Kaden was going to tell someone about me because of my power to know whats going to happen an hour later. If he did tell someone about me then it would go to the military and they would blow my planet to pieces in a second."
"How would they blow Ira into pieces in a second when it's probably a light year away. Even if the missile was invisible how would you dodge it."
"Ira is not light years away. It is actually closer than Mars. Ira is a so small you couldn't even see it with the most advanced microscope in human history. The only way to find it is with one of our spaceship's planet tracking devises. To get into it  you have to touch a small black shrinking device that was made from God when he created the Universe. The black shrinking device will pull you in. When you enter you shrink a million times smaller. You can't feal yourself shrinking though. When you get inside you can see Ira. The planet is bright red with oceans of orange water. It's not as fascinating as Earth with its green trees and blue water but to you Ira would be a new sight. Any way, you don't feel the gravitational pull of Ira as soon as you enter the black shrinking device. You have about another mile till you enter the atmosphere. Oh yes! And to your other question, If someone fired a misile at the black shrinking device we would have enough time to blow it up. Our reactions and motions are five times faster than yours. I could fire some Iranite at the misile before it enters our atmosphere and it will blow up before it hits us. But if it's invisible we don't know it's coming!"
"Have you proved the existence of God?"
    "Yes! Actually we have!"
"Really? So all these times I was wrong? All those arguments I've had... those where wrong? I feel like such an oblivious!" How did you prove it?"
"Well, all life is about is becoming a god. To become one you must find a black diamond in space and kill every living creature with a brain. Then the god we have will die. So practically all life is is a race... a diamond race. It's not to become the most popular kid in school, become rich, or have a good life on your planet. When you become a god you make your own universe and make a new challenge for your people you made to find the diamond.
"But what about some of the fossils we've found that are millions of years old? How could those exist if our planet isn't that old."
"That's because those fossils were there when God made the earth. God tricked you and made the DNA in it millions of years old but really - it's not."
"And the stars. How could you see those if there millions of light years away!?"
"That's only saying if that the light started at the stars. But really, the light started at earth. So it didn't even take a second for the light to get here 'cus it was already here when the Universe was created!"
"I've never thought of it in that way. I feel so - stupid."
"So, what do earthlings do when someone special dies?"
"Kaden? Oh. I almost forgot about him. Well, we go to a grave yard and do some... stuff. I'm not too familiar with deaths."
Well you better go do whatever you do 'cus if you don't his parents will get worried. Of course there going to be in shock half to death but you have to do it anyway."
"OK. See you later. Thanks for saving the Universe.", James said with a crooked smile.
James looked back at where Kaden's body used to be then left the den without saying another word. On his way back the sand didn't hit his face or body. It was like there was a shield around him the made the sand go around him. Drunda must have made this happen by moving the air around him so sand wouldn't touch him.

CHAPTER FIVE: questions and answers

WARNING! CHAPTER 1 IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE. DO NOT START HERE!!!!

James and Kaden finally woke up from when they fainted. They looked at the alien in awe. The alien had two large eyes and two small ones below it. They are completely black. The head is very round and has two mammoth husks. Its neck is very long. On the bottom of its neck is a crooked mouth with one sharp tooth sticking out. In the middle is a pointed nose. Its two arms are very long. It has huge hands with three fingers and two thumbs. Its body is so skinny on the bottom you can rap one hand around it. On the top its much wider and narrows the further down you get. The legs are very short. The feet have fins and have two toes on the back like a Hawk. It was definitely the weirdest thing they have ever seen.

After a while, James and Boozer woke up from their faint. They both looked up at the alien thinking where did this thing come from? They were really more scared than curiouse and before they knew it, they were running for their lifes to get back to the trap door and get out of there.
The alien definatly did not want them to leave. It chaised after them with unhuman speed and stopped James and Kaden with full force from his hands.
"Stop right here! You are chosen by us Irains to save the world. Cooperate with me and you will not get hurt,” the alien said.
    "You speak English!" James asked.
"I'm not just speaking English, I am speaking all languages of the Universe at the same time. What you hear is not what I hear. When I speak I hear it in my own language. But when the sound of my voice reaches your ear it is simply transferred into your language before it reaches your brain and the same thing requires for me when you talk. It is one of the many powers of the Irain culture. And please, call me by my name, Drunda, for I am a Man".
    "What's an Irain?" Kaden asked.
"I am an Irain,” said Drunda. "It is someone who comes from my planet, Ira. And don't call me an alien. To me, you are also alien. Call me Irain."
"What do you mean we are chosen to save the world?” James asked.
"I will explain that later. For your information, do not tell anyone about my presents or you will be killed because, if you do I will get killed and trust me, my life is much more important than yours."
"So tell me,” James asked, "how did you make the most deadly sand dunes in the world."
"Well,” Drunda answered, "I have the ability to control air up to 50 mph. First, I make it windy. Then, I control the air to make the sand move which makes a hole below the sand and you sink. I control the object to come into my den which you are in."
"So all that stuff is here?” James asked.
"Yes.", Drunda answered. "I can show you everything that has fallen into my den. Follow me." James and Kaden followed Drunda. They went through a long hallway with only one door on the left that they walked right passed. Why did this hall have to be so long? James thought. Finally they made a right turn and a there was huge pile of junk. James and Kaden looked away from the junk because a little kid was lying dead in the pile.
"Can you please remove that out of my sight." James said pointing at the dead kid.
"Sorry,” Drunda said, "I didn't mean for you to see that." Drunda hid the dead kid in the back of the pile.
James saw his ball that he lost a long time ago while playing baseball by himself. "My ball!", James shouted and retrieved it from the pile. "So that's where it went!"
"Enough with the excitement.” Kaden said. "I want to hear some more answers. What was that light we saw over the trap door that was always on when we came and off when we went inside the trap door? How did it know when we are coming and when we came in?"
"Another one of the Irain powers is being able to tell what’s going to happen an hour before it happens.", Drunda answered. "But we have to concentrate on what we want to know and then our brains will give us a yes or no answer. For example: if we think, 'will I die in an hour', then, if its true, our brains will tell us yes. If it's not true our brains will tell us no. So, every hour I think, 'will someone find my den’? When it is yes, I put the light up. I have a motion detector on the trap door that tells me exactly when someone enters my den. When you enter, the light turns off."
"What was that little green slush that was inside the piece of gold?", James asked.
Drunda put both of his hands together so that you couldn't see inside and there was a space in the middle like he was holding something but he didn't put anything in them. He opened his hands and a small, green piece of slush appeared. James opened his mouth in awe, wondering how he made it appear. Drunda threw the slush in the air. The slush exploded in mid-air.
"How did you do that?” James asked.
"The green slush is called Irainite. Irains can make this come out of our hands. It explodes when our brain tells it to."
"I don't have any more questions to ask.” James said. "I guess I'll go back home now."
    "That is OK.” Drunda replied.
James and Kaden started to leave. Drunda had sudden anger in his face.
    "What's wrong?” James asked.
Drunda didn't answer. Instead, he made Irainite appear out of his hands. Drunda threw it at Kaden and it blew him into smithereens. James was in shock.
"Why did you do that?!, James screamed. James knelt to his knees and started balling.
    Kaden... was dead.

CHAPTER FOUR, wood

Inside the letter was a note. It read:
We have been running our gold business
for over 200 years but never have we found
anything like this. The markings we found
on the gold are from Spain and are over
500 years old. Inside the gold we found a
green slush that has never been identified
before. Even though it was not gold we still
added $100 to your price. Your gold was only
1 square inch but is still VERY expensive.
We have  kept it in a very secure safe so it
will never get stolen. Thank you!
Behind the note was their check. "Kaden! Our gold was worth nine hundred and fifty-eight dollars!"
"Le'me see!", Kaden grabbed the check out of his hand. "Are you seriouse? Whoa! It is! James, were rich! We can't tell any one about this. If anyone hears they will try to steal it."
    "I can't even tell Hermit?"
    "Nope, not even Hermit."
"OK." James growned. "But, from now on you have to be nice to me. Deal?"
    "It's a deal."
"How are we going to keep it from my mom? I don't own anything big enough to put all the stuff we will buy in."
"We could bring it to a far away secret area where no one has ever been!"
"Were just kids. Think real Kaden."
"Or... we could build a tree house!"

*          *          *

James and Kaden rolled out a big sheet of paper and put it on a desk. They started thinking of how the tree house should be built. Their idea was to make it look like a mansion. It would have three stories, some secret passage ways for the fun of it, a fireman poll to climb from one story to the next, and a deck on the top with a telescope for lookout. This project will be very expensive and may already take away 900 dollars.
After they were done planning the tree houses construction, James went to a shop that sold wood and came back home. The wood was extremely expensive and already took 9 hundred and twenty-three dollars away from their amount.
"We can't work on the tree house today because my mom gets home at 5 o'clock. It's already 4: 30. Lets start it tomorrow.
After that, James and Kaden worked on the tree house everyday for two months. It was finally finished. And as they planned - it did look like a mansion.
James and Kaden needed more gold for buying stuff so they went back to the trap door they fell in. The light they had seen before was back on. How does it know when where coming?, James thought. When they arrived, the trap door was already open from last time they came. The light turned off as soon as James started to climb down the ladder. Kaden followed behind.
As soon as Kaden touched the ground he went strait for the gold. This time he picked up a bigger piece.
"Pretty soon we will be the richest kids in the world!", Boozer said excitedly. "Even Bill Gates will bow down to us. You know how awesome this will be?"
"I know!" James yelled. "Think of the things we could buy! Imagine us grooving down the highway in a Ferrari Enzo"
    "Blings hanging down our neck."
    "Playing baseball with the prose."
    "Living in a real mans-"
    DONG!
"Did you hear that this time?" James whispered sounding scared.
"Ya. I think it came strait from that openning over there. But who cares? Nothing matters when gold is in our hands!"
Kaden went back over to the pile of gold and started digging through. He wanted to to find something  extra interesting inside of it.
"Hey, James! Look what I found!" Kaden yelled while pulling out a gold crown, but James didn't answer. In fact, he wasn't even in the room.... He must have sneaked into the opening while Kaden wasn't looking.
"James? James! I told you not to go over there! Come back right now! James, answer me!"
Kaden went into the opening and saw James laying on the ground unconscious. "James, wake up!", Kaden slapped him in the face twice before screaming in his ear "James! What happened to you! Wake up!" Kaden shook his head, depressed, and looked up. Huge, green feet entered his field of view. And even higher than that was its body, green and odd shaped. This thing was definitely an alien.
    And then Kaden fainted.

CHAPTER THREE: bright and shiney

"James! Look at this! You wont believe it!" Kaden shouted in James ear while he was still recovering from the fall. James opened his eyes and looked around. Joy started to fill his face.
"Oh my god! We found gold!" There the gold was, shining brightly. They dance around and shouted in rejoice. They even hugged each other. They stopped shouting and realized who they were holding on to. They both backed away from each other. They were both thinking, awkward! Then they started to dance around again.
"Oh wait! How is it... shining?", James said. "How is there light in this room? There must be a light source." James and Kaden looked around for a light source. There was a single light on the ceiling. "That's... impossible. This light has probably been running for thousands of years!" They both looked at it in wonder.
Kaden stuck his hand out to touch it.
"Don't touch! It's probably really hot." James warned. Kaden kept on moving his hand toward the light. He touched it and jumped back.
    "It's-It's cold!"
"No way!" James reached his hands out and touched it also. "That's amazing. Only 90% of normal lights energy is used in light. The other 10% is used in heat. In this light 100% of its energy is used in light so it can't burn. No one has ever found a filament that could power this."
"Maby it's powered by dinosaur skin."
"No. That would have to be millions of years ago. This is only a couple thousand of years... if that."
"Forget the light, lets think about the gold.", Kaden said. They both had almost forgotten.
They both picked up a piece of gold and looked at it. "I think its real", Kaden said.
Were no professional. We know who ever used to own this is smart. It could easily be a fake. Lets take this to a gold tester.
"How do we find our way back?" James asked.
"I found a compass in the pile of gold"
A dong was sounded in the distance. "Did you hear that?", James wondered.
    "Hear what?"
"It sounded like a dong. Right behind that corner over there", James pointed his finger at an opening in the wall at the far side of the room.
"You didn't hear anything! Its just your imagination!"
"Don't you just want to look?!"
"Look.", Kaden grabbed James shirt to keep him from running into the opening. "Lets take the gold, test it, and we'll all be happy!"
Kaden took the compass out of the gold pile. "Your house is West from here.", said Kaden. "Lets get going." Kaden took a chunk of gold and started climbing a ladder that leaded out of the trap door that they fell through. James followed him up. When James got to the middle he stopped, looked back at the opening with wonder of what was in it, and started to climb all the way up.
They made it back to the house without any problems.
When they entered the house, Kaden put the piece of gold down. "What do we do with it?", Kaden wondered.
"There aren't any gold testers in town but there must be on the Internet.", James suggested.
They both went to the computer. James wiggled the mouse to turn it on and clicked the 'Internet Explore' button. The mouse moved over to the 'Google Search'. James typed in: '#1 best gold tester in the world', then clicked 'enter'. Google came up with 65.5 million results. The first result was called: Gold - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The second was called: RS Mizar Premium Gold, Diamond and Moissanite Testing Kit. James clicked that. In it was a lot of things about the gold testers and how they work. James clicked a button called: 'test your gold now!' James had to type in there address and print the companies address so they could mail it. The shipping cost $10.
James and Kaden found a box, put the gold in it, rapped it up with tape, put the mailing address on it, and road there bikes to the mailing station.
James and Kaden couldn't wait to see if it was real. They checked there mail every day till it came.
The envelope was very neat looking. It was painted gold and had silver-painted letters. They quickly opened it up and looked inside.

CHAPTER TWO: a horse kills a kingdom

James put his book down and went to the door. Like he thought, Hermit was there.

"Just on time!” James exclaimed while letting him in and closing the door. Hermit looked at the clock. It said 4:30.
"Let me get out the chess board". The chessboard and the pieces were made of polished glass. It was very expensive and fragile. James carefully put the pieces on the chessboard in correct order.
The game was slow. Not a word came threw anyone’s mouth. It took from 2-5 minutes to move one piece. At the end, Hermit moved his knight and said, "Check mate!" withed a smile.
    "Urge. You always win!"
"I know. That’s because I'm smarter than you."
"Well, Its time for you to go home now. I have to walk my neighbors’ dog in ten minutes.
    "OK, Bye!"
    "Bye!"
Hermit walked threw the door and waved good-bye again then closed the door. As soon as he left James went to get a dog leash and shoes. Then, he ran outside to his neighbors’ house and knocked on the door. An old Lady opened the door. "I’m ready to walk your dog".
"OK, I'll get Toby", she said (Toby is the dogs name). A big Golden Retriever came threw the door and Toby climbed down the front porch steps. James grabbed his collar and attached the leash.
    "Bye!" James waved.
Instead of the owner-saying bye she just gave a kind smile without showing any teeth. Toby walked calmly with James. When they were out of the owner’s sight, the dog started to run at full speed. James yanked forward and started to run with Toby. James could only keep his grip of Toby's leash for a short period of time. Toby started to run faster and faster. James tried to keep up with him but he couldn't. Toby was already 20 feet in head of him.
With immense speed, Toby quickly jumped over a wooden fence that James could not see through. James stopped and looked at the fence, took a quick breath, and grabbed onto the top. James used his legs to push himself up the fence. He managed to get one leg over but to his surprise, Toby jumped back over the fence, running the opposite toward the owner’s house. James sighed and jumped back down from the fence. He started running toward Toby. He was at leased 50 feet away.
James ran as fast as he could till he found Toby sitting at the spot he first took off running. James caught his breath, grabbed the leash, and walked toward the owner’s house.
Toby barked to let the owner know they were there. She opened the door and James said in a rush, "ma'am! I swear! Every time I walk that dog he runs off when we get out of your sight! That dog hates me!"
"But why would such a nice dog like this do such a thing like that?" Toby lay on the ground and rolled over with his belly up. "Look at him! Isn't he just cute? You would never do a thing like that would you?" she asked the dog. The owner kneeled down and gave Toby a belly rub. "Now stop whining", she said to James.

The next day came and James went to school. James had many of books in his hands. They piled up to shoulder height, which made it difficult because he couldn’t balance them with his chin. He walked slowly through the halls, balancing them in his arms. He looked down at his books every once in a while to check if they were steady. While looking down at his books he turning around a corner, bumped into someone, and all the books shattered all over the person he bumped into. Hitting hard enough to make him have a bruise. He looked down at the books and saw them scattered around the floor. He looked up to see whom he hit. It was Kaden.
"Hey, four eyes! Watch where you're going!" James could see the anger in Kaden's face. An encore of people chanted, "Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!"
Kaden took the first swing at James face. James ducked. Kaden swung at James chin, giving him an uppercut. James fell to the floor with his back on the ground all beaten up.
Kaden knelt down and grabbed James by the neck. Kaden put his fist in the air and said, "watch," he punched him in the face, "where," he punched him in the face again, "you're," and again, "going!”
His arm got stuck in the air. They both looked up to see what it was caught on. It was Mrs. Humbird. She caught his arm right in the air.
"What are you doing?!” Mrs. Humbird said. Kaden didn't respond. "Say sorry!"
    "I'm sorry Mrs. Humbird."
    "Not to me, him!"
    "I'm sorry James," he groaned.
"That will give you an automatic 'step four'!" 'Step four' gets you suspended. Mrs. Humbird grabbed Kaden and took him to the office. Kaden struggled to get out but Mrs. Teacher was too strong.
"And everyone go to class!” Mrs. Humbird shouted back at the kids that were watching Kaden and James fight.
    Everyone scurried to there classes.
It was nice having Kaden out of his classes. No more getting yelled at.
First period ended quickly. James got an A on all of his papers he turned in. When the 'five-minute-break bell' rang, everyone in the class quickly rushed to the door.
There was a big population of kids in the halls. More and more people crowded the halls every second. For some reason people were staring at James. Is there something wrong with my face? James thought.
James went to the bathroom to look into the mirrors. His face was bloody from the fight with Kaden. He had a bloody nose, black eye, bloody chin, and his left cheek was bruised. The back of his head had a big bump. He needed to get to the nurse.
James walked out of the bathroom. As he headed toward the nurse's office, Jessica looked at him and said, "What happened to your face? Oh ya, Kaden beat you up? Why didn't you fight back? Oh ya, 'cus your a wimp?!" Jessica pushed him back. All her friends laughed. "And by the way, I'm not interested in you." James ran away almost in tears.
James got to the nurse's office. The nurse looked at his face and said, "Oh my! What happened to your face?"
    "Kaden hit me."
"Oh yes! I heard about that. I'm glad you came to the nurse."
The nurse wet a washcloth and washed off his face. Then, she got a block of blue ice and put it on the back of his head where the he had the bump.
"Do you want to go home?” the nurse asked.
    "I guess."
James called home and his mom answered.
    "Hello."
"Hi Mom, I got beat up."
    "Are you alright?"
"Of coarse not, Mom." Why do moms always ask the most obvious questions in the world? James thought.
    "OK. I'll pick you up."
James's mom came to his school to pick him up. James walked out to the car, opened the door and jumped in.
"Oh, my God! How did this happen!"
    "I bumped into Kaden."
"Hmmm. I guess anything can make him mad. It was an accident, right?"
    "Ya."
"And he just blames it on you and decides to get in a fight."
They made it to the house and went inside. James went strait to his leather couch and read 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid'. It was only 8:45 am. At 10:00 am. James' mom went to work. At 4:40 James put his book down.
Why isn't Hermit here yet? He was supposed to be here 10 minutes ago! James went to the front window and looked outside. Where is he?
James went to the kitchen and got out some food. When he was half way done the doorbell rang. Usually he knocks on the door not ring the doorbell. Something fishy is going on.
James went to the door and opened it. It was Kaden. "Surprise!” Kaden yelled.
"How did you find my house, and where's Hermit?” James asked.
"I saw him coming this way, so I asked him where he was going and he said your house. I asked where your house was and he told me. Finally, I told him to go back to his house so he did."
     Kaden let himself inside.
"Kaden! Get out of my house!"
     "Make me."
Kaden found 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' on the couches and picked it up. He pulled a permanent marker out of his pocket and crossed out the author's name and replaced with James's. "Hey! That's a school library book!” James shouted.
"Good! Then everyone will see it!” Kaden laughed. “Hey, aren't we right next to the sand dunes? I thought I saw that steel wall when I came to your house. Lets check it out!"
"No! You can’t go over there! It's too dangerous!"
"Well, then you'll come with me…." Kaden grabbed James by the shirt and dragged him toward the back door. James struggled to get out, but Kaden was too strong. Kaden dragged him to the gate in the steel wall and opened it.
They looked off into the distance and saw a light. "I've never seen that before." James admitted.
"Check it out. Lets follow it!"
They followed it for a long time and the closer they got to the light, the stronger the wind was and more sand filled the air. The both squinted to see the light. By now they could hardly see each other but they were getting closer. James looked back at his house. It was completely invisible. James looked back. The light was gone, and so was Kaden. "Kaden! Kaden! Where are you?” James shouted. This was the first time James had shouted for Kadens help. James took two steps, and fell.

CHAPTER ONE- sea in the sand

James gripped his baseball tight in his hands. Standing in his back yard, he took in a deep breath, threw it straight in air, swung the bat, and missed. Everything he did, he knew was a fail. Things just didn't turn out the he wanted then to. So he fell to the ground, curled into a tight ball, and let the world fade from his mind. All he wanted to think of was the bad things of his life.
“Why do I have to be such a loser,” James thought, “and a geek?” He stood up, taking his ball and bat in hand. “I only have one friend. And who is he? A geek… Just like me” Throwing the ball in the air again, he thought, why can’t I be someone special? Then, with out even thinking to aim for the ball, he swung. The bat made a loud clacking sound, hitting its target. He looked up and saw that he had finally succeeded. It flew high in the air; farther than he had imagined.
It felt good for a while, till it all went wrong again. A giant steel wall, twenty feet high, stood at the borders of his back yard. Behind it was nothing but cursed dunes that piled over like a dessert monster. Its winds blew at fierce miles that could knock over anything in its path.
The gate was there to stop it from taking over everything else that lived near the dunes. Without the wall, his house would have been wrecked years ago, and his ball just landed behind it.
Crap, I better not lose that ball, James thought and openned the gate.
As soon as it peeped open it felt like the whole world was filled with sand. It rushed in his face, forcing him to close his eyes. Every step felt like he was moving a truck. He put a foot in the sand and already felt himself sinking in.
These sand dunes weren't like any ordinary sand dunes. These ones had to have be cursed by some crazy monster that had no respect for anyone in the world. You see, wind doesn't just happen to be in places like this for no reason. Something has to cause it. It could be just a coincidence but scientists say it had to do with the heating of the sand and difference in temperatures but James thinks that's just a bunch of baloney.
Many things have been lost in the sand dunes. If you put something in them they will eventually get pulled under. He doesn't get how that works either.
James cracked his eyes open a tad bit so he he could see but not enough to where it splintered his eyes. He had glasses which protected his eyes a little bit but it also caused him to have to wipe them off every few seconds.
James looked on the ground for the ball but didn't see it any where. It had already sunken into the sand.
James opened the gate to his back yard and walked into his house. He slumped into his nice leather couch and pondered over everything the had happened lately... imaginary or not. He looked up to see his mom coming down stairs with loads of laundry.
James took a deep breath and said," Mom, I lost my baseball in the sand dunes".
“You know, you should be more careful around those dunes," his mom said like it was a punishment.
"Ya, sure," James said without caring.

In the morning, school arrived. He reluctantly packed his supplies and put them in his backpack. He rode the bus to school every week except for the few times he ran late.
He arrived at his middle school and waited inside for his one and only friend, Hermit. Hermit was not his real name. He's been called that ever since he was little because of his high pitched croky voice that is extreamly annoying. Hermit has never been bothered by his nick name. He is actually proud of it because  he doesn't know that its a bad thing to have a voice like his. He almost always looks at the bright side of things and is a little too proud of himself considering how different he is.
Hermit entered the door quickly locating James; together they walked to their first class. As they walked James could only look at one thing, or rather person, Jessica. He stared long and hard as she passed. It was like nothing else was there. Just him and her, until a fist pounded into his stomach, which made him realize what was around him.
"Stop staring!” Hermit hissed. "Listen, I know you like her but you're NEVER GOING TO GET A DATE!"
"Quiet down!" James looked around to make sure no one was listening.
"I will talk as loud as I want. Now, try thinking about something valuable in life,” Hermit beamed a smile like a crescent moon “Like chess!”
"Really Hermit? There are better things than that. Why don't you try getting out of your obsession?"
"Hey, you like the game too!"
"Ya, but I'm not obsessed like you are."
James arrived to class and plopped down in his assigned seat. Mr. Fragens, the teacher, came in and said, "Everyone, I am giving you a test. Finish it QUIETLY."
“Why do they always yell the word quietly?” James pondered, trying to keep his thoughts on at least something school related, rather than on the girl he’d prefer to be thinking about.
Mr. Fragens handed out the exam to all the kids and James started writing. Five minutes into the test, something started poking his back. James twisted around to find that Kaden, one of his worst enemies, was tapping him with the lead of his pencil.
"Stop Kaden," James muttered and turned back around. Turning, James went back to work. Within seconds Boozer continued poking. James' hand shot up in the air like a speeding bullet.
    "Yes James?" Mr. Fragens asked.
"Kaden keeps jabbing me with his pencil and won’t stop!"
"Well, did you ask him to stop?" His teacher said sounding bored.
    "Yes."
Mr. Fragens sighed. "Kaden, go sit by the wall and don't look back." Kaden cooperated with the punishment.
James went back to work, as did the rest of the class. James finished the last problem and turned his paper in to the pile at the front of the room.
The between-class bell rang, and everyone rushed to the door. His second class he shared with both Hermit and Jessica. James had horrible grades in this class because for one thing he all ways passed notes to Hermit, and on top of that he couldn’t keep his eyes off Jessica. He sat down in his chair and got out a piece of paper.
James wrote: "Remember, chess club at 4:00. Don't forget to come to my house!" James folded the note and handed it to Hermit.
Mrs. Teacher came around to pass out corrected papers. Noticing, Hermit quickly hid the scrap in his desk. James looked at his grade, he got a C. Hermit got a B. Hermit looked over at James’ grade and laughed, "That’s what happens when you fantasize about girls."
"Psht. I can do what I want!" James countered, and inclined his head to look at Jessica. Jessica had big, attractive blue eyes and blond hair that looked nicely combed, long, and shiney. She dressed with expensive clothes that were very popular and had a perfect tan. Her smile was cute and shone very glamorousely every time she laughed.
Jessica saw James staring at her. Her smile was brought up again as she took out a piece of paper and began writing a secret note.
“Is Jessica really starting to like me?” James thought, his pulse quickened with anticipation. Then, Jessica crumpled up the piece of paper and threw it at James face. Hermit snorted with laughter and Jessica quickly turned around like nothing happened.
"Did you just throw that at James face?!" Mrs. Teacher more stated than asked "Go to 'step one'!" “Step one” was the same discipline Boozer took in first period. Jessica shot James a death glare as she passed on her way to the back of the room.
James looked at the piece of paper Jessica thrown at him and picked it up off the ground. Unrolling it, all he saw were an abundance of squiggly lines going up and down. “So much for Jessica liking me” James thought.
The bell rang signaling that it was time for lunch. The rest of the day was normal, nothing interesting happened. He slowly meander home on his bike only to find his mom in the kitchen and his dad down stairs working on the computer. She asked him everyday the same question, "How was your day at school, Sweety?". He replied like always and said fine. Then she asked her following questions that he was prepared for, "What did you guys do?". Again the usual answer came pouring out of his mouth as slow as molasses.
"Nothing." He climbed up the stairs and closed the door waiting for Hermit to show up.
James read a book, bored, until Hermit knocked on his door for chess club.
